Loft Lia at Hochfirstweg 1

BlackHome Loft Lia occupies a carefully curated 50m² on Hochfirstweg 1 in Titisee, a small lakeside town in the southern Black Forest. The architecture follows a restrained vernacular — exposed structural timber, rendered white walls, and natural stone detailing — qualities that align the interior with its forested surroundings without resorting to rustic pastiche. Light enters generously through tall windows, shifting from cool grey at dawn to warm amber as afternoon settles over the tree line.

BlackHome GmbH

The loft accommodates up to four guests across a well-proportioned open-plan living and sleeping arrangement. The kitchen is fully fitted and oriented toward practical use: solid countertops, adequate workspace, and equipment suited to anything from a pressed morning coffee to a longer evening meal. The layout separates rest from living with an elevated sleeping zone, giving the space a sense of architecture rather than mere square footage.

Titisee itself is one of those towns that earns its reputation quietly. The lake — glacially formed and ringed by fir and spruce — is a ten-minute walk from the front door. In winter, cross-country ski trails begin almost at the town's edge; in summer, the water draws swimmers, paddlers, and those who simply want a bench at the water's edge and an hour without interruption. The town centre offers bakeries, independent restaurants, and market stalls that run on a rhythm unchanged for decades.

Practical matters: the loft is suited to couples travelling together or a small family requiring proximity without sacrificing space. Hochfirstweg 1 sits on the quieter residential edge of Titisee, reducing traffic noise while keeping the lake and amenities within easy reach. The property is managed by the BlackHome brand, which prioritises direct-booking guests and direct-line communication for anything needed before or during a stay.

How a stay at Loft Lia unfolds

You arrive at Hochfirstweg 1 to find the loft already warmed — the timber ceiling above catching the last hour of afternoon light from the west-facing windows. Key collection is straightforward, the space self-evident: open plan, unhurried, with enough room for four without the feeling of compression.

Mornings here have a particular quality. The Black Forest holds mist longer than the valley floor, and from the loft windows in early light, the upper tree line sits above a low white layer. Coffee from the fitted kitchen, the sound of the building settling. There is no reason to be anywhere at speed.

By mid-morning, the lake is a ten-minute walk down through the residential lane. In summer, the water is cold and clear enough to see the bottom in the shallows; in winter, the path around the lake is gritted and nearly empty, the fir branches holding snow in shapes that do not quite make sense. The town centre sits just beyond the eastern shore — bakeries open early, the market by the tourist office runs several days a week, and there are two or three restaurants worth returning to in the evening.

Afternoons offer a choice of pace. Hochfirst summit and its surrounding trails begin close enough to reach on foot if the legs are willing, or by the Hochfirstbahn cable car for a faster ascent. The loft itself is a place to return to rather than escape from — the elevated sleeping zone, the quiet of the residential street, the absence of noise that cities make you forget is even possible. Evenings close slowly, the forest darkening before the town does, the loft interior holding warmth well into the night.

Winter Light on the Titisee Shore

Between December and February, Titisee operates at a different register. The lake holds ice at its margins, the promenade empties by mid-afternoon, and the quality of light — low, white, and horizontal — becomes the main event of any given day.

The Case for Staying in the Black Forest in Autumn

The Case for Staying in the Black Forest in Autumn

September into October is arguably the Black Forest's most considered season. The tourist volume drops, the fir and beech canopy shifts colour, and the towns around Titisee return to a pace that feels genuinely local rather than arranged for visitors.
